Privacy policy

This policy explains what information cyrusyegon.com ("the site") collects, why, and the choices you have. The site is run by Cyrus Yegon, based in Houston, Texas. Questions: hello@cyrusyegon.com.

What I collect

Visit statistics. When you view a page, the site records the page address, the website that referred you (for example linkedin.com), your country (from your IP address, which is not stored), and whether you're on a phone, tablet or computer. Clicks on links to other websites and contact-form sends are counted the same way. To count unique visitors without cookies, the site creates a code from your IP address, browser and the date; the code changes every day and cannot be turned back into your IP address. The site does not use cookies for tracking and does not use advertising or third-party analytics trackers.

Contact form. If you send a message, your name, email address, topic and message are delivered to my inbox through Web3Forms, a form-delivery service. I use them only to reply to you.

Newsletter. If you subscribe, I store your email address, when you signed up and confirmed, and which page you signed up from. You'll get a confirmation email first, and you're only added once you click the link in it. I use your address only to send you new posts. Emails are sent through Brevo.

Light/dark preference. If you switch the site's theme, your choice is saved in your own browser (local storage). It never leaves your device.

How I use it

• To understand which pages are useful and improve the site.
• To reply to messages you send.
• To email new posts to people who asked for them.

I don't sell, rent or share your information for anyone else's marketing.

Services that process data for me

• Vercel hosts the site and its server functions.
• Supabase stores the site's content, visit statistics and newsletter subscribers.
• Web3Forms delivers contact-form messages.
• Brevo sends newsletter and confirmation emails.
• ImprovMX forwards email sent to @cyrusyegon.com addresses.
• Google Fonts serves the site's typefaces, so your browser connects to Google to load them.

How long I keep it

Visit statistics are kept while they're useful for understanding trends. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe; after that your address is marked unsubscribed so you're never emailed again, and I'll delete it entirely on request. Contact messages stay in my email inbox.

Your choices and rights

• Unsubscribe at any time with the link at the bottom of every newsletter email.
• Access, correct or delete your information by emailing hello@cyrusyegon.com. I'll respond within 30 days.
• Depending on where you live (for example California, Texas or the EU/UK), you may have additional rights under local law, which I'll honor.

Children

The site isn't aimed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes, I'll update the date at the top of this page.
